So... why Salut?
Wow, calm down. No need to get feisty.
We believe that there’s a way better experience to be had when dealing with LLM and Generative AI technology than there’s currently available. We aim to build the same features you’re used to as with other apps, but do it in the most user-centric way possible. Something that we want to use ourselves, without having to choose between platforms or giving our personal info away.
What's the plan, genius?
Right now, we're still in development and doing rigorous Beta testing. But our schedule is pretty strict and we're planning on launching Q1 of next year. Does that means "an Apple Q1" and we're not live until end of March, no. However, we do want to make sure that we keep our promise and deliver something delightful, even for its first release.
Remember, we're just two people actively working on it at the moment.
For the current beta release, we'll have some bear necessities implemented, including model-routing, truth validation, document uploads, etc. During that time we are going to ask our testers to tell us what they're missing that would keep them from using it and have this determine our roadmap.
Of course, we also have features planned that we haven't seen any other app do yet, but when the time comes we'll be sure to demo and share those with you.
Who even are you?
The person writing this is Arthur Stobbelaar. I've founded Salut along with Robert Keus and we're joined by Thijmen Francken to help us out with development. In building Salut we've had a lot of help from different friends and contacts we've accumulated over the years. We all have a lot of experience building apps for various platforms and clients, so now we're doing the scary thing; building something ourselves.

You say private…yet send data to big tech, how?
Glad you asked.
It’s private in the sense that we never share any of your personal identifiable information with the companies. The stuff that can be used to profile you. Any information you share directly with an LLM, there’s very little we can do, but we guarantee that no personal identifiable data is shared. Of course, if you rather do want to share this information and trust the big tech companies with your data, don’t let us stop you. But we feel a bit icky about yet another behemoth knowing our most inner thoughts and behaviors.
WHY NO iOS?!
It's coming.
In fact, we don't intent to publicly release without it, but we need to build one crucial feature for it and make sure the Mac app is covered.
And what about Android, Windows, Linux and BeOS?
Building for those platforms would be awesome!
But for now, we're focussing on the Apple ecosystem. Depending on its success we will look at other ways to implement the Salut experience with a big chance that it'll be a web-app. However, when we say that we build "native" it's not referring to the technologies we're using, but rather the features we include. So if we make a Windows app, it should feel native to the Windows platform and not just be a wrapper.
