This Privacy Policy explains how Salut AI B.V. (“Salut”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and processes personal data in connection with our macOS application and related services (the “Services”).

Salut is headquartered in the Netherlands and is registered at Plompetorengracht 4, 3512CC Utrecht, the Netherlands. We are the data controller for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).

1. What we do

Salut provides a chat interface that allows users to interact with multiple large language models (LLMs) through a single application. We may route queries to one or more AI providers and combine responses to improve results.

Welcome to Salut AI. As a young company exiting beta, our service will evolve rapidly — new features, new integrations, and new ways of working. Our commitment to your privacy, however, is constant. This policy is a living document that we will update as we grow. We promise to notify you of significant changes and to always be transparent about how we handle your data.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

- First name and last name

- Email address

- Password (securely stored in encrypted form)

- Profile image (if provided via Google or Apple Sign-In)

2.2 Authentication data

If you sign in using third-party providers (e.g. Google or Apple), we receive limited profile information as permitted by those providers.

2.3 User content

We process and store:

- Messages and prompts you submit

- AI responses

- Conversation history and metadata (timestamps, structure)

- Attachments you upload (and derived summaries)

This data is stored both:

- Locally on your device

- On our servers for synchronization

2.4 Logs and diagnostics

We collect:

- Application errors and crash reports (via Sentry)

- Server-side logs, which may include message content for debugging purposes

Logs are retained for up to 90 days.

2.5 Payment information

If you subscribe to our Services:

- Payments are processed by Stripe

- We do not store payment card details

- We may receive limited billing information (e.g. subscription status)

2.6 Communications

If you contact us or receive emails from us:

- We process your email address and communication content

- Emails are handled via Brevo

3. How we use your information

We use your data to:

- Provide and operate the Services

- Authenticate users and manage accounts

- Process and deliver AI-generated responses

- Route queries to appropriate AI providers

- Maintain conversation history and synchronization

- Provide customer support

- Send transactional communications (e.g. account or billing messages)

4. Use of AI providers

To provide our core functionality, we send selected data to third-party AI providers, including:

- OpenAI (ChatGPT)

- Anthropic (Claude)

- Google (Gemini)

- Mistral

- Moonshot AI (Kimi)

- Minimax

- Perplexity

- OpenRouter (for access to open-source models)

How data is shared

- We send your messages and summaries of conversation context

- We may send summaries of attachments, not full raw files where possible

- We aim to minimise the amount of data shared while preserving functionality

These providers process data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

5. Legal bases for processing

We rely on the following legal bases under GDPR:

- Contract: to provide the Services you requested

- Legitimate interests: to improve, secure, and maintain the Services

- Consent: for marketing communications and optional features

We do not sell your personal data.

- Conversations and content: until deleted by you

- Backups: up to 30 days

- Account deletion: completed within 30 days (best effort sooner)
